BATON ROUGE – LSU’s student newspaper, The Daily Reveille, has been honored as the nation’s best all-around student newspaper by the Society of Professional Journalists at its recent Mark of Excellence, or MOE, Awards banquet in Indianapolis.
In addition to the overall award, the Reveille took home the following honors:
• Luke Johnson, a December, 2012 graduate from Lake Mills, Wisc., was honored as a national finalist for both sports column writing and sports writing.
• Gordon Brillon, a junior from Lincoln, R.I., was honored as a finalist in general column writing.
“We’re extremely proud of the entire Reveille staff,” said Bob Ritter, director of Student Media. “This award exemplifies Student Media’s commitment to providing high quality journalism for the university community. It’s all about consistency, creativity and resilience. The Mark of Excellence Award is the equivalent of the national championship in college journalism.”
