|Give Kids A Smile Day (Month) Kicked Off with Jefferson Terrace Elementary Students Receiving Free Dental Services – February 5, 2013|
Dentists are providing needy students with an important asset to succeed in both school and life this month – a smile! It’s all part of the voluntary free dental services available to some public elementary school students during February, National Children’s Dental Health Month, and every Friday for Give Kids A Smile Day.
The annual event got kicked off last Friday, February 1, with students from Jefferson Terrace Elementary School receiving dental services from staff at the Louisiana Center for Restorative Dentistry (first photo). All dental professionals on hand assisted with many of the treatments (second photo) at the Louisiana Center for Restorative Dentistry.
Every Friday this February (the remaining dates are February 8, 15 and 22), many first and second graders will have big smiles when area dentists close up shop just to take care of the dental needs of nearly 1,000 East Baton Rouge Parish School System (EBRPSS) students selected for assistance. At elementary schools near participating dental offices, consent packets are sent home with qualifying students. Parents or guardians must return the completed forms for children to be able to participate in this free dental program. The services are donated and free.
